Angus Winchester's draft party was a fun event. Back during the inaugural draft of the NSFL he was still an offensive lineman and had widely been projected to be drafted in the first few rounds as one of the first offensive linemen off the board. Sitting at his grandparent's home in Tennessee the Wisconsin graduate was doing it big with family and friends and a huge barbecue spread. The Winchesters are large men who are known for their ability to eat and in Eastern Tennessee they know how to cook a pig.
So the Winchesters invited a good 40 people there and cooked a whole pig on the barbecue pit his grandfather had welded. In addition to the pork orgy they had from the whole pig that had been smoked for 12 hours they had a massive spread of southern fixins. Cole slaw, collard greens, baked beans, mac and cheese, potato salad, french fries, onion rings, chicken wings, you get the point. Top it off with the keg of beer they bought the day before and a nice selection of bourbons from the Winchester collection and it was a party to be remembered. When Angus was selected in the 5th round to Orange County the whole place erupted and the party lasted all night.

Quote:Written: Must include 200 words. Most people have a draft party for the time they get drafted. Whether you're getting drafted this season, or have already been drafted, describe what your draft party was like or will be like. Was it only family and close friends or did you go out to a bar waiting for your name to be called.
I bet everyone has a great story about their draft party. Seems like crazy stuff always happens to other people. For me personally, the party I held at my parents house was great fun, but nothing silly.
I invited my team mates from UC Davis, staff and close friends of mine. My father reved up the grill and we had a cook off with great food. We speculated how the NSFL would form as at the time it was a new league and there were questions why I did not sign up for the NFL draft. The NSFL just sounded more interesting as a complete new league.
After we were done eating we enjoyed the lovely weather we had at the time, swimming in the pool and playing a little backyard football. One of my friends brought his sound system with him so we also had some sweet tunes playing.
The evening ended with a big goodbye to everyone who was at the party. I would be traveling to Baltimore the next day to finalize the contract. All in all it was a very rememberable night, because I got to spend it with the people who mean most to me. Which at the end of the day I think is most important.
The Ramero family's draft party was the most legendary event of the entire year. There has never been an event that has stacked up to the caliber of the Ramero family's draft party. Rickey Ramero could be seen with his face buried in cocaine at all times during the night, and the room was filled with hookers and heroine like. Guillermo was ass fucking a Brazilian babe while his wife watched from the corner and cried silently because their marriage was falling apart. Other top prospects such as the Pennington's were in attendance and elite talents like Ben Horne, Brock Weathers III, and D.J Riddick all made appearances. This S8 NSFL party was an absolute banger, and there were a number of notable events that took place in the crowded venue of Rickey's apartment. To begin, Chad Pennington body slammed a water cooler over and knocked it out off the balcony where it fell and struck a homeless man begging, breaking his back and killing him instantly. The linebacker is dealing with the charges at the moment. On top of this, Horne and Weathers showed their freaky side and were caught making out in the bathroom. As you can see, the linebackers went crazy.
On draft day, my plan is to be simply sitting with my family, trying not to show my nerves as the buzz of a new career surrounds me. This party won't be big, simply my parents, agent, and best friend for 15 years will be in attendance. I don't mind who I go to, it's been a dream for me to play at the highest level of football possible, and my chance is here and now. I'll probably pace back and forth around my house, and work best breathing, and as each pick goes by, it'll get harder and harder to focus. Even though I'm the best linebacker in UAB history, the small school prowess has dragged me down. But I love the challenge, and am looking forward to taking on the DSFL with everything I've got.
Dean Jackson is almost certain he's told this exact, or at least, very similar, story/situation to reporters in a 200 word format before. But no matter. Jackson isn't typically a big party kind of guy, He doesn't abstain entirely, but he indulges in alcohol only in careful moderation. He loves loud music, but only when it's the Phoenix Symphony performing a characteristically forte Tchaikovsky piece; otherwise he prefers a more moderate volume.
But, your name getting called on draft day for the National Simulation Football League only happens once in a lifetime, so Dean Jackson started the day with close friends and family... and ended it with them. In contrast, the next day he got completely wasted and roamed downtown Phoenix, spending an hour at any given bar before traveling to the next. He had hired a limo and a chauffeur to drive him around, of course. Don't ever drink and drive, kids.
As he moved bar to bar, his entourage grew exponentially larger. Jackson can't actually remember this himself, but apparently the Phoenix police department had to break up the mob blocking a street at 10pm that night. If you look carefully at videos of the incident, you can find Jackson in the center of the crowd.
I think I’ve told this story before but I guess I’ll tell it again. I’m a born hunter from northern Minnesota, it’s in my blood as it is in my father’s his brother’s and their father. It’s really something passed down through the genes ofnthe Akselsen.
So on draft night I wasn’t keeping tabs on anything. I was out with my dad and uncle hunting some elk. We felled a real big boy out there, at least seven hundred pounds. We probably had to hike it back around three times, hoping a Bear didn’t find our kill in the time in between.
I didn’t find out I had been drafted by the Wraiths until we got home after the weekend. I was really excited that I had been drafted by a small town as that was most of life. Feeling comfortable and not overwhelmed in a huge city when I was already gonna be overwhelmed as a pro was definitely a huge boost.
I remember receiving a call from the GM and just being ecstatic. We celebrated with some fresh elk steak that night. It was probably the best tasting meat I have ever had. I guess you could call that a party, I know I would.
So ive never been drafted before, so i will tell you about a fantasy draft party i had instead.
for my dynasty fantasy league, our first rookie draft was an interesting one. In easily my worst trade in this league, and one of the worst in league history, i traded my first overall pick for christine michael(i bought into the LT hype), ronnie hillman(was cut 2 years later) , and the 10th overall pick. first pick of that year: Todd Gurley. fuckin rip.
So i traded up from the 10th overall pick to the 5th overall pick to get Jameis Winston. This was all a plan to just flip him to another guy for Cam Newton. this was 2015, so i got his pre-MVP price, much cheaper, and i am VERY happy with that trade.
With my second pick, at 16th overall, i picked Bryce Petty. I had just committed to Baylor, so i was very excited for this pick. It wasnt a great pick by any means, but it wasnt the worst up until this point. However i did miss out on some really solid prospects.
Next was a trade that at the time i was terrified about, but now i feel confident about. I traded Julian Edelman for the 29th overall pick. With that pick i grabbed Devin Funchess. It was a lot of value to give up, but I loved Funchess out of college, and him going to WR hungry Carolina made me really excited for him. In the end, injuries have hampered Edelman, and Funchess has finally emerged as a true #1 wideout, so i am happy with the decision i made
So Andre's draft party was split into three areas: the pre party, the after party, and the after after party. The pre party was kinda getting ready and making sure that everything was in place. Doing a little pregaming to relieve stress before the big day as well as keeping himself grounded. It was pretty much just Andre's closest friends and family that showed up. Got details on what was happening the rest of the evening and week, praying together before the big ceremony, and just hanging out. Then it was onto the actual draft. Of course Andre was there at the actual draft location. Only scrubs would skip out on being there. His father, mother, sister, brother, and 3 closest friends were at the table to hear Andre's name come off the commish's lips first. They got the call from Colorado and new it was a done deal where he was going. Then the moment hit. "With the first overall pick in the Season Five NSFL draft, the Colorado Yeti Select... CARLITO CRUSH!!!"
FUCK.
That wasn't Andre's name. The phone was slapped off the table in frustration. He new he was going #2 to the yeti, but the fact that he wasn't #1 still was eating at him. Head in his hands. Just disbelief. He got called second, but had a terrible fake grin on his face. Could not feel happy after what just happened. Draft concludes, and Andre heads to the after party. He wasn't feeling it and heard many condolences about going 2nd, but no one could really tell the difference, which made Andre even more frustrated. As he was leaving the after party for the after after party, Andre told the limo driver to just go back home.
He arrived home, took off his tux, stripping it to the floor as he walked to his bed room, fell onto his bed, and sleeped for 18 hours, until he heard somone wailing on his front door. Many thought he was dead, but that was the most sound sleep Andre has had in over 6 years.
My draft party for the DSFL is something I’ll never forget, at least until I get drafted to the NSFL. All of my friends showed up, some from college, high school, and various other places. My dad, my little brother, my Granny, and I were sat at the front row of the party at the sofa. Behind me stood all of my friends, watching the TV, waiting to hear my name called. At first, it was a little agonizing. When I heard my name fall, I felt discouraged. I thought I was a first round prospect, second at least. But I fell all the way through the second round. After the second round was over, I got a call from a familiar sounding voice. It was Mr. Ramero, GM of the San Antonio Marshals. He told me that he was going to draft me. I thanked him and hung up, a huge grin on my face. I told everyone to be quiet as I turned the TV up as loud as it could go.
“With the ninth pick of the Season 8 DSFL Draft, the San Antonio Marshals select... Marquise Brown, Runningback, Florida State!”
The entire house erupted with cheer. The first thing I did was stand up and hug my Pops. We went through everything together, so it’s only right that the first person I celebrate with would be him. “We did it Marquise! We did it Marquise!” He yelled into my ear, tears streaming down his face. I let go of my Father and turned around to dap up my little bro, and then all of my friends. It was a fun night, and I’ll never ever forget hearing my name called.
