(S13) - PT 2 - On the Road

Time on the road in the DSFL is tough to describe as anything other than atrocious. Since the players are on the fringes of their sport and society as a whole, it is difficult for me to pass the time during our flights on Spirit Airways. One thing I always try to do is sneak my vape past the security guards at the airport, that way I can at least get really high in the bathroom. Sometimes we have to get our own flights and rental cars to hotels and arenas which makes me feel more like a wrestler than it does a professional football player. Often, I will pass the time by reading the first few chapters of a book on Kindle and then completely forgetting about it. I want nothing more than to continue to waste my time in the DSFL and eventually make it to the luxurious travel that the NSFL offers. I can only imagine what it will be like to travel somewhere that has good wi-fi in the air and allows me to actually get a beverage or a snack that has a brand name. Life in the DSFL is atrocious and passing the time is done by getting high and aimlessly reading stories on a screen.

wow ya we do all kinds of cool shit when we're traveling from game to game in this national simulation football league like listen to music and play cards and play video games and sleep and watch movies and watch tv shows and sing songs and do karaoke and sing taylor swift songs and eat food and eat snacks and drink and take a nap and maybe stop for tacos if we are behaving and talk to each other and have good conversations and learn about each other's personalities and lives and take another nap and eat another snack and maybe play the switch they have a bunch of super cool games now so that's really cool and since it's portable we're able to play it on the go which is very convenient for when we're traveling for this league which we have to we don't really have a choice you know there are 7 away games every season so sometimes we even have to go to yellowknife which sucks balls big time and not because it's cold or anything but because it's in canada and really canada wouldn't be so bad except for the fact that it's full of canadians so yeah it's the worst for sure

Johnny Snuggles has always loved traveling. As a child, he took many trips with his family, and they prided themselves on visiting 42 of the 50 states together (damn you northeastern United States!). There’s nothing quite as exciting as visiting somewhere you’ve never been, seeing new things, and meeting new people. Outside of the games themselves, traveling for away games was one of his favorite parts of playing football in college. All that changed once he was drafted by the Yellowknife Wraiths though. First off, have you ever been to Yellowknife? Of course not, the answer is always no. Although it’s an absolutely beautiful place, there is nothing to do there. The town has less than 20,000 people in it for crying out loud. Because of that, you think NSFL players would be happy to leave for road trips, right? Wrong. Take the yearly trip to Philadelphia as an example. It’s only a measly 2243 miles as the crow flies. In fact, if you were to drive from Yellowknife to Philadelphia, it would take over 50 hours of straight driving. Although he generally fills the time by reading or talking with his teammates, Johnny has gotten fairly adept at sleeping on airplanes. Now, Johnny hates traveling. Thanks a lot, Yellowknife.

Like most teams, the Arizona Outlaws have to travel pretty far to reach most of their opponents. This involves a lot of plane rides and the team usually travels by bus after landing in the destination city. Depending on the time of the game, this can involve staying overnight or the night before. Reese is an avid poker player and likes to organize games when the team stays overnight somewhere, so that it gives them a way to pass the time after curfew. The games usually involve defensive players as they are a tight-knit unit, but offensive players like Trey Willie and Steve Moore do join in from time to time.

At times, if the city is close enough, the team can also travel there by bus. As you can imagine, fitting several large men in a bus can be a bit uncomfortable for everyone involved. This can lead to a lot of restlessness. It’s difficult to play cards on a trip like this, so Reese brings along a few Nintendo Switches to keep them occupied. The team is particularly fond of Super Smash Brothers. Rumors are that Abrin Asipi mains King K. Rool, but this has not been confirmed or denied.

Lots of people watch movies, read books, or sleep on our team flights, but me? I love to play Sid Meier's Civilization. I discovered this amazing time sink of a game back in high school, shortly after the last DLC for Civilization V came out, and I've been hooked ever since. There was just something about building up a civilization and seeing if you could stand the test of time (or Gandhi's nuclear power) that allowed time to melt away, and you always wanted to just play one more turn, even if it was already 6AM and you've been playing for the last 12 hours. But this property comes in extremely handy on long flights, as I can always just pull out my laptop and open up the game. While 6 hours may have passed by in real life, it will have felt like half an hour to me as I've spent the last 4 hours trying to get my revenge on that goddamn asshole Alexander. When Dwayne Aaron was still on the team, we used to play all the time on flights, passing the laptop back and forth and working as a team to take over the world. Even without that, playing the new games and expansions continue to help me through the long travel times from the middle of the country.

Cooter is used to a life on the road. While some may not know this about him, Cooter spent a lot of his life living in a house that had wheels on it. Now some people like to look down on having a house on wheels but Cooter sees no major issue with this. It means you can pick up and move to the next trailer park whenver your mama gets a restraining order from the neighbors because she got drunk and attacked them with a screwdriver. Or the time when they had to move because daddy came home from prison and found mama in bed with another man and got that crazy look in his eye and he had to be taken away by the police, again. That was a fun time. So when your house is on wheels and you gotta run away from your troubles and your past it's no big deak. You don't have to pack your stuff up into boxes or nothing, just hook up the truck to the trailer and get to the next county. It did cause some issues with having to change schools all the time and whatnot, but cooter was an expert at that. wow I got really off topic here, this was supposed to be about football. Lol. Anyways Cooter likes to spend his time on the road for games doing what any sane man does, get drunk and look at porn.
