The fact that "any other retirement that was just a silly joke" would have taken place almost two years ago and not more than twice in the two year history of the league.

A rule needed to be put into place to make sure that it didn't continue to happen. And it worked. Now it's not a problem and it's overkill. Simple as that.

One violation in two years is a high level of efficacy for this league.

In fact it may be one of the least violated rules in all of the rulebook. And it carries potentially the harshest penalty.

Rule has been around since the beginning. Should have been amended before this happens. Yeah, it sucks, but he should be punished his 20%. Doesn't matter if it was April Fool's or not, people would normally put that shit in an announcement thread or media. He put it into the retirement thread.

Good to know that faking a retirement, doesn't matter the day, get special circumstances.

Carries the harshest penalty because if you retire and come back, joke or not, it shouldn't be taken lightly. In the off-season GMs can easily vote to change the rule or whatever, but has never been done.
