My fantasy team has been average at best. I'll go down the line and talk about how each player is performing. Falconi has been pretty good as my QB, with 86 points. Better than most QBs, but not at the top level. My RBs are Canton and Torenson, who have been good, but also not anywhere near the top performers like Gump. That could change as the season goes on, obviously, but not a great start for my #1 pick. My WRs are meh. Picking myself was a good pick, as Nacho has 89 points off the back of a 3 TD game. Unfortunately, Laszlo 42 has been absolutely terrible this year. He's got 21.4 points which must be near the bottom of WRs that have been drafted. Now that I think about it I should probably waive him for someone else. My TE has been good, as L'Alto has 44 points, which is above average for the TEs this season. Even guys like Olsen have been big disappointments fantasy-wise, so I'm fine with this pick. My kicker Baxter Frost is #1 in my heart, but not #1 in the league this season sadly. The Philly defense has been pretty good, with 60 points so far. I'll take it. All of this leaves me in 4th in my group. Not great, not terrible.

I love the idea of talking about my fantasy team. This is some quality PT goodness right here. I’d like to proudly announce that I’m second in my group, with 608 points, 3 points out of first and only 8 out of the top 20. I say this proudly because, historically, I fucking SUCK at NSFL fantasy. Excpet that one time. And honestly, I tried to suck again it seems, but I’ve been a lucky boy. My first pick is my worst pick: I took Apollo Reed as my starting RB and he’s been pretty dog shit. Woof. I immediately saved my own ass by selecting Mako Mendonca as my FLEX, and preventing others from getting second RB. He’s sitting with 91 points. I knew I needed WRs so I went back to back and took James Bishop (89 points) and Tommy Helanen (84). At this point, I could see I wasn’t going to get a Top QB or TE, and decided to chase the other positions. I took the YKW Defense, And they’re just blowing every other team out of the water with 97 points. I needed a TE, so I was a homer and took Philip Larsen from Austin. He hasn’t been that great, but our TEs always suck ass at fantasy, and we should switch that position to another Flex. I knew I was the only one that needed at QB at this point, so I took the Otters Kick, Alex F, and dude has been a monster, 70 points. Finally, I needed a QB, so I bet on myself and took Easton Cole (BAYBAY!) in the last round, and with 111 points he’s currently sitting 5th overall in total scoring, even if he’s only 4th in QB scoring. It’s been a lucky year. Fuck Apollo Reed though. (301)

I want to talk about a teammate who has been a sneaky good fantasy choice this season, despite the fact that he may in some ways be struggling. Franklin Armstrong is the unquestioned leader of the Otters offense and a very good quarterback, but he has been struggling some this season. He is towards the bottom of the league in passer rating, having thrown eight touchdowns to six interceptions though he is near the middle of the quarterback pack with his completion percentage. Where he has truly shined this season, and surly for anyone that took him in fantasy, is with his legs. The Lamar Jackson of the NSFL, as I've always called him, has over 300 rushing yards in six games this season and has scored four rushing touchdowns. He is carrying the ball at an incredibly high rate, with sixty on the season. That puts him at ten carries a game, which is a very high number for a quarterback. The fact that he is getting so much work as a runner on top of his obvious skill as a quarterback makes him a very smart choice for all the big brain fantasy guys and gals out there. My fantasy team has started off pretty strong. I hit a few strong players in the beginning and a few good players late as well. Right now I am placed number 1 in my group and number 6 overall. As of right this moment I have 650 points. That’s about 50 points ahead of the next closest who happened to by my Co-GM Frick Nasty. My quarterback is Franklin Armstrong who I was able to grab later in the draft. Marquise Brown was also a late grab which started off really strong but has started to slow down in the last few weeks. We will continue to monitor his progression before deciding to keep or dump him. My first two picks, Johnny Blaze and Errol Maddox have lived up to expectations to this point. Blaze has certainly helped as the next closest TE is far off in their point total. Thanks! The kicker position continues to be steady even though any kicker is a crap shoot as their abilities do not seem to translate on the field well. Kulture Fulture, my kicker, is one of the best but last year fell short of expectations. This year luckily he has been steady. Keep it up. Nacho Varga, you’ve been amazing, thank you. Hugh Mongo, not so much. Pick it up!

I would like to take this opportunity to formally apologize to those who are struggling in fantasy due to taking Sam Torenson number 1 in their draft. I know it looks bleak now but remember we have half a season to go yet so hang in there. The Philadelphia Liberty have really struggled out of the gate to the tune of a 1-5 record. While Torenson is piling up the yards, sitting comfortably at second in the league in rushing yards despite his top 3 worst performances of his career, he has not been able to find the end zone this season, scoring only 3 times thus far. I believe in him though and am looking for that breakout yet. Last season he didn’t take over the rushing lead until week 8 or so and then proceeded to blow it out of the water. Admittedly the touchdowns may be hard to catch Gump but I still believe Torenson will end up leading the league in rushing. Actually Gump and Torenson have the exact same yards per carry right now with Gumps rushing lead only due to the extra 30 or so carries he has over the course of the season. It will be great to see how this ends up and if disappointment can turn to true contentment.

Being in my first season, a lot of this is still very knew to me. While I’m a big fan of fantasy football, I didn’t think I would know enough info to make informed picks. Being a part of the DSFL, I have been paying close attention to the action thus far. I’m going to break down how I a couple key positions I would draft based on what I’ve seen in the DSFL this season, plus how I think things will finish.
My top overall pick is a no-brainer. I would take Orien Drake 1st overall if I were so lucky. Drake has been running away from the competition to this point. He is 300 yards ahead of the net closest running back and shows no signs of slowing down. Not only that, he is also tied for the most rushing touchdowns as well. Volume is a big part of his success, but if he can manage this workload expect him to finish as the top fantasy option of the season. One reason for Drake’s success is the competition he is up against. Every day he gets to practice against the best rush defense in the DSFL.

Next, I would grab my boy Rayne Gordon at WR for the Coyotes. Leaning Coyote heavy here, but I really like what they have done this far. Rayne is a guy who has flown under the radar. In an offense that is run dominant, he and Lovote have posted solid numbers early on. While Lovote has snagged more touchdowns than Gordon, I expect that to change as things move forward. I get to watch him practice every day and the dude never quits working.

Lastly, I would grab the Coyotes defense. I will be the first to admit that the Luchadores have the top defense in the DSFL this season. They hold their opponents in check and force a lot of turnovers. I’m banking on them getting drafted earlier than I feel comfortable taking a defense in fantasy football (much like the way people drafted the Bears defense this season), so I hold off and grab the second best one later on. The Coyotes have struggled against the pass so far but have been dominant in the run game. They also force a lot of turnovers and post good special teams numbers. Mason Blaylock’s punt return for a touchdown is what it’s all about in fantasy, so I would ride with them through the rest of the season.
