The dark horse you asked? Well isnt that obvious? Theres a team out there who suppose to have a phenomenal season, a team that on paper looks like it was going to dominate this season but now we are considered dark horses who has a chance to not even make the playoffs this season. Yes I am talking about the austin Copperheads who somehow the first few weeks kept on losing and losing even though we looked good on roster. The sim constantly shited on us but it's cool though we have a opportunity to snatch a 2nd seed if we beat the one and only overrated sabercats. Sure I respect the sabercats, season after season they got shat on but still got back up and fight but there amazing season for them comes to a end tonight! This will be a important battle for the ultimus race and I hope you all ready to see a show! So grab some popcorn and get ready for the epic battle for the playoffs! Of course the 2nd best option for the Copperheads is if Secondline get beat by Honnalua and both kitties and snakes makes it but either way the Copperheads will make the damn playoffs!
The Otters feel most likely to make it to the finals and bring home the Ultimus in my completely biased opinion. Some might say you're crazy and the Wraiths have the better record and are going to come up on top, but to those people I say "naw". Otters got this. The Yeti might be an unexpected threat, at least to the Wraith's post season plans. I think my player Jeffrey Phillips will have a hand to play in the post-season wins for the Otters, but not a huge hand since I'm still in my first season and have a ways to go before becoming a real star on the team. There are so many contributing players who can really make this team shine, it's just cool being one of the cogs in the machine. No sobbing planned on my end, I expect to be with my team hoisting the trophy at the end of all this. I think the most important player in the playoffs is going to be Franklin Armstrong, he's been a beast all season long, running the ball, making great throws, and great plays all around. The guy should be the undisputed best QB in the league right now.
With the final couple games deciding the fate of three teams in our division in the NSFL, I have to imagine that I have an opportunity to make a big impact on my team's future. Potentially by continuing my trend of making some massive interceptions and giving our high powered offense another shot at putting points on the board, or just to run out the clock some more as we dominate possession. There was a series there in the middle of the season where I think majority of our team was struggling in same ways. Plays weren't getting made and I was definitely part of that.
Thanks to the last two games, we've got some serious momentum going for us. Our defense just feasted the other game with numerous sacks and as a defensive group there were some big plays in creating turnovers. While the 3rd pick of the season happened for me, I can only hope to continue to get those chances. So far this season I've started all the games due to the need for players in defensive backs. It's been a slow climb getting to at least the level of parity before even thinking about being a consistent impact player. I do believe myself to be on the field over every minute until our season is over.
Buckle up, folks. It’s about to get crazy. With one week remaining, there is plenty of time for movement among the playoff seeds. San Jose, Austin, and New Orleans are all within one game of each other in the ASFC, while the expansion Sarasota Sailfish are only one game out of the third playoff spot in the NSFC.
Let’s assume Austin, Orange County, New Orleans, Sarasota, Yellowknife, and Colorado win tonight. In that scenario, it looks like Orange County locks up the one seed in the ASFC while San Jose and New Orleans have to go to tiebreakers (Philadelphia and Sarasota also go to tiebreakers in the NSFC, but it doesn’t matter for this completely realistic scenario) for the three seed, right? Wrong.
Sometime over the next two days, a massive league scandal is uncovered. San Jose, Austin, and New Orleans are banned from postseason competition. That leaves Arizona and Honolulu as the two and three seed. Arizona proceeds to shutout Honolulu behind a 400-yard, 6 TD performance from Jay Cue, win in triple overtime against Orange County when Baby Yoda rips off a 63-yard TD run, and vanquish Yellowknife in the championship game on a goal line pick six from eventual defensive rookie of the year Zamir Kehla.
As the playoff race draws to a close in the DSFL, its clear to all observers that the race for the final playoff spots is extremely tight in both divisions. Whilst the SFC has a three way tie for the final playoff spot featuring the Dallas Birddogs, Myrtle Beach Bucanners, and Norfolk Seawolves, the NFC has a tie of it's own featuring the London Royals and the Portland Pythons.
Examining the NFC challengers a little more in depth, the Pythons have two away games to cap off the season, one against the Tijuana Luchadores and one against the Norfolk Seawolves. Both would be expected to be challenging contests, with Tijuana having shown as the best team in the DSFL this season and Norfolk fighting for a playoff spot, neither team is going to roll over for the Pythons.
Conversely, the London Royals host the Dallas Briddogs in a contest that could very well decide the Royals chances at playoffs themselves. Expect a tight match up, but I expect the Royals to come out on top. With standout performances from Colby Jack, Nick Kaepercolin, Eric Richards, Datsum Phastbawls, and more the Royals are well positioned to defeat the Birddogs and punch their ticket for their first playoff birth. Following that game, London travels to Minnesota in what could prove to be a preview of the playoffs. Stay tuned for that one!
Since I don’t really have any feelings towards one team or another yet since I am just hanging out on waivers for my entire life, so I would have to go with the geographic loyalty. I was born and raised in Orange County. I have the Otters legacy in my blood. I think that this is yet another season where the Otters will come out on top of the league and claim their rightful place atop the NSFL’s throne. I don’t want to live in a world where the Wraiths, Yeti, or Copperheads are the class of the league. Makes me want to puke. In the DSFL, it looks like Tijuana is the heavy favorite and the only real contender to beat them is Minnesota. If anyone besides those two teams wins the Ultimini then it would be one for the books. I would go with Minnesota to take the title, just because I think their color scheme is more pleasing. Both teams got to plow through what looks like exceptionally mediocre competition to place themselves in this position. Looking around, there isn’t a single team in the DSFL that has a QB better than me on the roster right now. I can’t wait to drag my nuts on everyone.

So I think that the season twenty-two NSFL playoffs is one where the winner will be the obvious choice and that is the Orange County Otters. Sure the Otters didn't have the least amount of losses, but they had quality losses. If you want to point to me and say "Hey why not the Yellowknife Wraiths" and I would say to you that they lost to the Colorado Yeti who lost at home to the Honolulu Hahalua in a 10-0 shutout and by some kind of mathematical property I'm not smart enough to remember off the top of my head without double checking it first then that means that the Wraiths are going to lose in the playoffs yet again. Then you'd probably have some kind of witty thing to say like "well you could also do that with the Otters as both teams they lost to also lost to the Hahalua....in fact that happened to both teams so you've really given us no valid arguments" and I would say to you shut up. At the end of the day the Orange County Otters are one of the best well oiled machines that the NSFL has ever seen and that lone has me giving them the dub in the playoffs.
I can't say for sure who I expect to come out on top in the big games this season but one team that won't be there despite all of their talk is the San Jose Sabercats. They will remain at home watching from their couches with the other teams who share the same fortune such as the Chicago Butchers and the Arizona Outlaws. While Heath Evans is disappointed to be on this list of teams who aren't involved this season, he is looking forward to returning to Australia to watch the playoffs unfold with his family and friends on the farm. Now that Heath's property has a functioning internet connection and a long term supply of home brewed beer - he has the ability to host an Ultimus party of his own with all the trimmings.
While Heath has invited many of his teammates and the league in general to attend, the only player he expects to show up on the day is Bruce Buckley, because Bruce has no other friends that want to spend time with him. This may seem unfair to put Bruce in this category but while the stench of his body odor and flatulence normally help him to keep defenders away, it's also the main cause for driving away all those close to him. Heath has a seperate isolation room prepared for this occasion.
