Fellow gridiron warriors,
Interested in besting your teammates on a different playing field? Do you like tactics and war games with absolutely no randomness? Do you like stretching the truth in creative ways and manipulating other people? Diplomacy may be for you!
Diplomacy is a game in which 7 players take on leading the 7 major countries in in Europe circa World War 1. The players write letters to each other to coordinate their efforts, and move they armies and fleets in the hopes of expanding and building more forces. Alliances are formed and broken with regularity. Skilled diplomats can talk their way out of sticky situations. It's a game of warfare and relationships...and how similar those two things can be.
Interested? Already a diplomat and invested in playing an NSFL game? Reply to the thread to learn more and coordinate. I'd love to host it on playdiplomacy.com our backstabbr. I'm a long time user on both.
Here's a basic introduction to Diplomacy. It describes in detail the moves that can happen during Spring and Fall. In winter, the winnings of the year are consolidated each power builds the units they can in their home centers.
If you want to jump into the deep end of Diplomacy strategy, I highly recommend this compilation of strategy articles.
Here's a great intro video by Matthew Colville:
