When Jax Baker got the letter he was confused. Nobody ever wrote to him. Back in Goldenrod City there had always been fan mail, just not for Jax. No, he had always been in the shadow of his old trainer. Not that he ever cared much. They had been great team mates and even better friends. Whenever they went places the primary focus had been more on the leader and less on the team.
This letter was addressed to him. The doggo himself. When he had left Johto to embark on a new career and journey for himself, becoming famous in his own name had never occurred to him as a possibility. Heck, even playing professional football had been a fluke of its own. A day in the park chasing any ball that flew past him. This was going to be his chance to shine. He could make an impact on someone's life- and for something that DIDN'T involve fighting. He could share a true message of finding yourself and chasing your dreams. And balls. Though, as Jax sat in the room of screaming children, big pink bows on his ears and dressed up like a toy, he decided that maybe young fans could admire from afar. ![]() ![]()
Remus would absolutely show up to this birthday party. Remus loves giving back and helping to inspire others to work hard so that they too can enjoy some of the success that he has had. On top of that, Remus cares about the community and wants to engage with the fans to improve relations.
Remus would go all out – first off, he would absolutely invite his brother Romulus to come along. They both would bring signed jerseys and tickets to the head to head matchup of New Orleans versus Philadelphia. They would both show up and sign autographs, build rapport, and make sure everyone was enjoying themselves. On top of that, Remus would convince Romulus to pretend to be him to see if anyone even noticed…. If no one figures it out then I’m not sure what he would do. Lastly (as long as coach is happy with it) Remus would have the boy or girl lead the charge out onto the field for the next game. There can’t be anything more exciting for a child than hanging out with their favorite sports icon and lead the team as they walk on to the field in front of a packed stadium of over 20,000 screaming fans. 207 words ![]()
As for which teams I think that are overachieving there is one clear favorite for that distinction. The San Jose Sabercats in my mind are that team. The Sabercats have the 2nd least total TPE in the entire league out of any team but compared to other teams in their TPE strength they have a 4-2-1 record but the Philadelphia Liberty have only a 2-5 record in the league which is quite surprising in the grand scheme of things.
A team that is underperforming from my point of view would the the Austin Copperheads they have one of the most TPE totals in the league currently sitting at the #3 spot leaguewide but have only a 1-5-1 record which is the 3rd worst record in the entire league so far so actually the opposite from the TPE total. Coincidentally the two teams I have mentioned actually finished their last game in a tie which is quite a rare feat to happen. Austin lost also to teams like Honolulu Hahalua and gave them their only win so far in this season even tho the Hawaiian based team has a total of 4000 less TPE than the team from Texas. Another lower TPE team that manage to best the Copperheads were the New Orleans Second Line that edged out a close win against the Copperheads. ![]() Player Page Update Page
Usually when I receive fan mail it's from the 17-30 age demographic. A lot of the time they're soliciting my advice about horticulture. So, when I finally received a piece of mail that was way more colorful and used way more construction paper than usual, it caught my eye. It turns out one of my biggest fans is 8 year old Jamal Jaydenson. Jamal sent me a personal invitation to the hottest party of the season. That's right, this dude wanted me to show up to his birthday party. I was a little anxious because he didn't say if I could include a plus one or not, so I was feeling shy knowing I'd have to go myself. Then, the pressure of what to get this kid for a gift? Back in my day, you'd give a kid a gift card to Toys R Us and call it a day. No, not this time. I quickly reached out to our equipment manager and asked if he could help. At the end, I arrived at Jamal's birthday party with 3 signed jerseys, a team signed football, and an autographed game used helmet. For Jamal's parents, I brought them both a half ounce of some of the finest dank I could find in Sarasota. Everyone had a great time.

You know, if there is one thing Lesean Paris Crooks loves a lot, it is his fans and children. The only thing he loves more than those two is his music. Despite his rollercoaster pro career, Crooks has seen marginal gains with his music. Getting to go back to Baltimore his rookie year allowed him to connect with some of his childhood friends and put some booming acts together. Sometimes he wonders if he should focus more on music than football. So in the middle of another disappointing season, when he receives a letter from a fan who wishes to have him perform at her birthday, he calls his people up and they fly out California to grant the young fan's dream.
When they arrive, they rent out an ampitheater and set up all their equipment before proceeding to surprise their young fan. When they arrive at the house in two big charter buses, everyone gets nervous before swarming Crooks as he steps off. He greets every person in sight before meeting the birthday girl and they get some food and talk about each other's goals, passions, and love for music before they start dancing with the old folks. She even gives him a tour of the house and they jump rope before he invites the whole block to the show. When they arrive, word got out and the place is overflowing with people trying to get in. He decides to let them all in, and lets the birthday girl and her friends on stage with him as they perform hit after hit, even some unreleased cuts. They end the show reciting a poem apiece and exit to an uproar. After wishing her a goodnight, he sings happy birthday to her before finally leaving. He heads to the afterparty where all the moms, aunts, older cousins in college and their friends are all waiting cause they still get around. |
