The dream may not be over. After a season of teasing us with so many "records," Logan Noble may be back in Season Ten. His 1.96 TANY/A was only 3rd worst in league history, but he now holds a single season record for lowest completion percentage with 47.025 and now a single game record for most yards lost due to sacks with 113. He was sacked 36 times over his final 3 games, which shows that if he does come back, he will set the record for most times sacked in a single season.

San Jose did about as much as they could to help Fitzy win, and it eventually paid off, but that was an ugly game for all involved. It wasn't an ugly season, though, provided you are comparing him to rookies and Logan Noble. @Bzerkap named him the first good rookie quarterback, which I am quite proud of. Of particular note is that only Mat Akselsen and Avon Blocksdale were sacked fewer times than Fitzpatrick.

With a whopping 19 plays for 76 yards, Pennington seemed happy to let the season just end without him. This was a rough sophomore year. His rookie season had him throwing to Mayran Jackson (who, 2 seasons later, will still be a starting receiver) as his #1 and Shane Weston as his #2. It was a duo any rookie QB would want. However, with free agency claiming Jackson and Weston regressing, Pennington arguably had the least to work with of any QB this year. I mention this because, despite such a downgrade in weapons, Pennington still improved considerably from last season. Next season, not having to worry about losing any more talent, he should have a breakout year. He'll have to, because only Pierno has had a worse sophomore performance.

In S7, Akselsen had a TANY/A of 6.92. In S8, his first year of regression, it dropped to a 6.75, hardly significant. This year, a 5.67? I certainly hope the Yellowknife front office figured out what wasn't working, because if he drops off like that again, Yellowknife will be a 4 win team. It's worth noting that Akselsen's last 4 games averaged a 6.6 score, so hopefully they figured it out. I think every fantasy player is eyeing him very carefully for next season.

Is this what normal QB progression is supposed to look like? A TANY/A of 1.49 as a rookie, jumping up to a 4.12 as a sophomore, then a 6.28 in the third year? The question everyone in Colorado has to be asking is: can a QB have 3 breakout seasons in a row? If so, next year is looking very good.

His final season performance was a 22/45, 1 TD, 2 INT mess between two teams that had nothing to win or lose. Mike Boss walks off #1 in total plays, pass attempts, completions, passing yards, total yards, touchdowns, interceptions, sacks taken, and yards lost to sacks. He was, however, arguably the least mobile QB ever, finishing only 6th in rushing attempts and 9th in rushing yards. At least he held on to the ball well, only fumbling 9 times in his career, 7th all-time. On top of that, he holds some other single game and season records that I will write about later. Enjoy your retirement, @JBLAZE_THE_BOSS, and your eventual selection into the Hall of Fame.

After a disappointing start to the season, Maximus finished pretty strong, but I have to wonder how much better he might have been had he rushed a bit less often. Those 4 fumbles tied Logan Noble for the lead (though not all were from rushing). I think Maximus will be the most efficient QB in the league next season if he plays smart.

I'm hearing some murmuring about other folks for MVP, but not only was Blocksdale the most efficient QB this season, thus far it is the second-best season ANY QB has had. Only Mike Boss in S6 has ever been more efficient (so far). If I had a vote, it would definitely go to Avon Blocksdale.
